You Scream, I Scream, 4th Graders Scream for Ice Cream!
Friday finally arrived... the Ice Cream Sundae Math Facts Fun Day! We anticipated this day for almost six months! Students carefully colored in each section of their SUNDAE picture as they passed of their multiplication facts. Everyone started with the FREE bowl...but then it was up to them to fill it with ice cream! Our class worked hard this past month and TIMEZ ATTACK was the key to finishing up the harder ones. I am pleased to say that everyone passed off 2s to 11s by the time the ice cream was delivered! YES! And just in the nick of time too...we are going on to... double and triple digit multiplication! Busy Bees are the BEST!

Young Utahns Become Traders and Trappers at Rendezvous
This was a first...at Cedar Ridge Elementary...Mountain Man Rendezvous celebrated on November 22nd! For about one hour students became TRADERS and TRAPPERS and enjoyed activities similar to those available in Utah back in the 1830s to 1840s. Students enjoyed a good arm wrestling tournament, games, tall tale stories, and a trading post snack. Students previously worked to earn "beaver pelts" to "trade" for goods. It was apparent that we need to have a second opportunity to "trade" because several students had several pelts left over! This was a culminating activity after studying Chapter 4 in our Utah history book as well as listening to our guest speaker, Mr. Sorensen, a true blue mountain men. Several students being intrigued by his lifestyle, committed to becoming a mountain man in the future!
